Saturday, 07 December 2024 – Student and Business Networking Sessions Foster Connections and Collaboration during APICTA Awards 2024
The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2024 continued its dynamic programme with dedicated Student Networking and Business Networking sessions, held at aprominent hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan. The events brought together emerging talents, industry leaders, and key stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region. 

Hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Student Networking Session welcomed Yang Mulia Awang Norilham bin Haji Jais, Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education, Ministry of Education, as the Guest of Honour. 

The session engaged over 80 participants, comprising students and APICTA members, in interactive cultural activities designed to deepen understanding of Brunei Darussaam’s rich traditions through dance, music, games and craftsmanship. 

Participants were grouped into seven different stations to experience traditional games like Permainan Pasang and Congkak, musical performances with Gulingtangan, and earning about traditional Malay costume such as Sinjang and Dastar. 

This event was organised by the Ministry of Education, with the support from the Department of Museums and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as AITI. 

The Business Networking event hosted by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) was held at the same venue, and present as the Guest of Honour was Mr Daniel Leong, Acting CEO of Brunei Economic Development Board. 

In his welcoming speech, he highlighted the role of BEDB as the statutory body responsible for driving Brunei’s economic diversification efforts and attracting investment in key sectors, including technology, innovation and infrastructure. He underscored the session’s role in strengthening business and industry connections that could lead to long-term partnerships and economic growth. 

The session opened with a presentation on Investment and Business Opportunities by BEDB which offered an in-depth look at Brunei’s investment climate and emerging business potential, followed by a talk by Brunei Innovation Lab (BIL) which shared their exciting initiatives in supporting the growth of startups and technological advancement. The Networking Session and Startups Booth encouraged attendees to engage with tech entrepreneurs, explored innovative business ideas, and discussed potential collaborations. 

These networking events showcased APICTA’s mission to create meaningful industry linkages and nurture future-ready talent while strengthening regional cooperation. International and local delegates of APICTA Awards 2024, startups and ICT players actively participated, sharing insights and exploring new business frontiers.
