8th Asean Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC), Republic of Singapore, 18th – 19th October 2023
Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and the Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity, Brunei Darussalam attended the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC) in Singapore.
The 8th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (8th AMCC) is an annual Ministerial-level dialogue among the ASEAN member states that focuses on addressing critical issues related to cybersecurity and digital security within the region. It aims to further strengthen our regional collaboration in cybersecurity as being an enabler to innovation, progress and sustainability.
During the 8th AMCC, Yang Berhormat emphasized the significance of the event as a valuable platform to discuss on the prevailing and emerging threats in the digital and cyber landscape. It is also through this platform that regional initiatives can be mooted and discussed to combat cybersecurity threats.
Yang Berhormat acknowledged the progress made on the proposal for the establishment of ASEAN Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and called for its expeditious establishment. The establishment of ASEAN CERT would further foster CERT-to-CERT information sharing and CERT-related capacity building and facilitate timely exchange of threat and attack-related information among ASEAN Member States (AMS).
At the sidelines of the 8th AMCC, Yang Berhormat also visited the Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA) booth at the GovWare Conference and Exhibition 2023 and held courtesy meetings with counterparts from Singapore, ASEAN Dialogue and other partner countries. The discussion focused on the exchange of views and the sharing of best practices, experiences, and initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity frameworks. Key topics included policy frameworks, legislation, capacity building, information sharing, and collaborative strategies.
Yang Mulia Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), Yang Mulia Shamsul Bahri bin Hj Kamis, Interim Commissioner of Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), along with senior officials from the Ministry accompanied the Minister.
