GITEX Global Cybersecurity Conference: ‘Cybersecurity at The Heart of Digital Transformation’

​Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Shamhary bin PDP Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and the Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity recently participated in a panel discussion on ‘Cybersecurity at the Heart of Digital Transformation’ on Monday 16th October, during the GITEX Global Cybersecurity Conference in Dubai. The other esteemed members of the panel were:

 

  • H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security, United Arab Emirates Government;
  • H.E. Amer Sharaf, CEO of Cyber Security Systems and Services, Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), UAE; and
  • Hon. Ousman Bah, Minister, Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, The Gambia.

The session was moderated by Mr. Nathan Swain, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Europe, Asia & MENA region at Binance.

Yang Berhormat shared that digital transformation serves as a means to achieve our national development goals and vision. We have to leverage on technology and connectivity to drive innovation and improve the lives and needs of citizens and businesses for continued national development. In this respect technology, especially digital technology, needs to be trusted. As basic as it seems, we must always go back to the tenets of cybersecurity viz. Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA).

In addition to the panel discussion, Yang Berhormat was also received by exhibitors at the GITEX Global Cybersecurity Conference. At the Digital Dubai booth, they showcased the city’s initiatives in utilizing technology to enhance the Road Transport Authority (RTA) services and their latest advancements in smart transportation systems. Next was the Abu Dhabi TAMM application which is a one-stop platform providing direct access to all services the Abu Dhabi Government provides.

Yang Mulia Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), along with senior officials from the Ministry accompanied the Minister.
