Ro-Ro Ship Incident In The Muara Channel

​​​​​Sunday 23rd February 2014 – A Ro-Ro Vessel, Trans Future 2 owned by a Japanese Company and registered in Panama carrying imported vehicles experienced loss of maneuvrability while in the Muara Channel at approximately 0840 hrs whilst approaching Muara Port. The incident resulted in a collision with two Navy Vessels owned by Brunei Royal Navy berthed at the Navy Jetty. One Navy vessel suffered structural damage to its left side. However, no injury or loss of life were reported in the incident. A detailed investigation is underway by relevant authorities to determine the cause of the incident.

The Marine Department hereby advises the public, especially members of the shipping community, captains of vessels and boat owners to always remain alert and vigilant whilst ensuring their vessels are continuously sea-worthy when in Brunei waters.
