The Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2025 Ceremony was held this morning at the Arts Centre, Jerudong International School. The Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chee Yee, Legislative Council member; Yang Mulia Ir. Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications as Co-Chairman I of BICTA 2025 Steering Committee; and Yang Mulia Pengiran Sarimah binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Latiff, Chairperson of InfoCom Brunei (IFB) as the Co-Chairman II of the BICTA 2025 Steering Committee.
Other guests included Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs, senior officials from government and higher learning institutions, as well as businesses from the ICT industry.
BICTA 2025 Awards ceremony began with a recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Muhd Azrol Alim bin Haji Zaini, Zone 2 Monitoring Officer, Brunei-Muara District Mosque. The event proceeded with a welcoming address by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications as Co-Chairman I of BICTA 2025 Steering Committee.
The event was then enlivened with the screening of a video titled “BICTA 2025 Journey”, featuring a compilation of BICTA activities throughout the year and the experiences of BICTA participants. This was later followed with the Judges’ Report presented by Yang Mulia Dr. Sophiana Chua binti Abdullah, Chief Judge of BICTA 2025.
Yang Berhormat Minister of Transport and Infocommunications then presented tokens of appreciation to the forty-one (41) judges of BICTA 2025. The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards by the guest of honour to the winners and Merit recipients of BICTA 2025, as well as the recipients of the Smart Nation Award.
There were ten (10) categories competed in BICTA 2025, comprising:
i. Seven (7) Main Categories, namely Primary School, Secondary School, Tertiary School, Consumer and Business Services, Inclusion and Community Services, Industrial, and Public and Government; and
ii. Three (3) Cross Categories, namely Start Up, Research and Development, and Technology.
BICTA 2025 also featured five (5) Smart Nation Awards. These awards are dedicated to non-winning entries which have fulfilled the aspiration of “Smart Nation through Digital Transformation” for improved quality of life, public services, schools, safety, mobility of people and to achieve environment sustainability within the applications of the five (5) specific sectors, namely Tourism, Agriculture, Construction, Logistics & Transport and Education.
A total of 180 entries were received, marking an increase of 13% compared to 159 entries last year. From this total, 128 entries were shortlisted as meeting the eligibility and criteria for the BICTA competition and were subsequently selected to undergo the judging process.
The winners, Merit and the Smart Nation Awards recipients of BICTA 2025 were as follows:
Primary School Category
Sekolah Rendah Lambak Kanan Jalan 49, C3 with their product The Bright Buddies 49 was named as winner for the Primary School Category, who received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$1,000.00.
Five (5) Merit recipients were presented to:
i. Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with their product SafeZone BN: Interactive School Anti-Bullying App;
ii. Sekolah Rendah Rimba III with their product AGENT ALAI;
iii. Seri Mulia Sarjana International School with their product Smart VANS Vehicle Arrival Notification & Pick-Up;
iv. Sekolah Rendah Lambak Kanan Jalan 49, C3 with their product WHIZBIZ 49ers (Theme: PSR Soldiers); and
v. Sekolah Rendah Rimba II with their product Interactive Story Game: A Tale from Kg Gulayan – The Kangkung Story.
Each Merit recipient received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$500.00.
Secondary School Category
Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan with their product name EduMat was named as winner for the Secondary School Category, who received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$1,500.00.
Five (5) Merit Award recipients were presented to:
i. Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with their product IKHATAM TRACKER;
ii. Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with their product iAttendance iAl-Hudur;
iii. Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB with their product Tutoria;
iv. Sekolah Menengah Rimba with their product RimbaScan; and
v. Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab with their product Smart SafetVy Cane for the Visually Impaired.
Each Merit recipient received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$800.00 each.
Tertiary School Category
Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan with their product DualFarm A.I. was named as winner for the Tertiary School Category, who received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$2,000.00,
Only one (1) Merit Award recipient was presented, namely Universiti Brunei Darussalam with their product Smart Beehive Intrusion Monitoring System for Stingless Bees, who received a trophy, certificate and cash prizes of B$1,000.00.
Consumer and Business Service Category
WilKGames with their product Tikus Tales was named as winner the Consumer and Business Service Category, who received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$5,000.00.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to TechBru Solution (B) Sdn Bhd with their product DeepLynx.ai. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$2,500.00.
Inclusion and Community Services Category
DigiAgri with their product ChemBuddy Supreme+ was named as winner for the Inclusion and Community Services Category. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$5,000.00.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to Rubryx AI with their product Rubryx AI. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$2,500.00.
Industrial Category
SPI BN Sdn Bhd with their product Ground Sensor Terminal for Satellite IoT Connectivity was named as winner for the Inclusion and Community Services Category. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$5,000.00.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to Fatih Aquaculture with their product Aqua InSite. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$2,500.00.
Public and Government Category
There was no winner for the Public and Government Category.
Faculty of Islamic Technology, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali with their product 3D VIRTUAL REALITY HAJJ FITNESS SIMULATION was named as the Merit Award recipient. They received a trophy and certificate.
Start Up Category
Tech4Horizon Enterprise with their product PsychoBoard was named as winner for the Inclusion and Community Services Category. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$5,000.00.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to NeuroSolutions Enterprise with their product NeuroLearn. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$2,500.00.
Research and Development Category
There was no winner for the Research and Development Category.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to WilKGames with their product Tikus Tales. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$1,500.00.
Technology Category
Avicenna with their product PAGE was named as winner for the Technology Category. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$5,000.00.
One (1) Merit Award was presented to TechBru Solution (B) Sdn Bhd with their product DeepLynx.ai. They received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of B$1,500.00.
Smart Nation Awards
Four (4) recipients of the Smart Nation Awards. presented with a plaque and certificate, were as follows:
i. 360 GeoInfo Company with their product B-JAUR for Tourism sector;
ii. AIQuatic Enterprise with their product AIQuatic AquaFeeder for Agriculture sector;
iii. 360 GeoInfo Company with their product PINTAR Smart Parking for Logistics and Transport sector; and
iv. WilKGames with their product CashU for Education sector.
There was no Smart Nation Awards recipient for Construction sector.
Yang Berhormat Minister of Transport and Infocommunications later proceeded to tour the product showcase of all BICTA 2025 winners and Merit recipients.
Apart from receiving cash prizes and trophies, winners in each category will be selected to represent Brunei Darussalam to the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025 which will be held in December this year in Chinese Taipei. APICTA is a prestigious international ICT competition, participated by 17 member economies from the Asia Pacific region. Brunei Darussalam’s participation in APICTA has to date won six (6) winning awards and forty-one (41) Runner Ups and Merits. Last year, the country achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning a total of eleven (11) awards, comprising two (2) winning, one (1) 1st Runner-Up, five (5) 2nd Runners-Up, and three (3) Merit Awards, thereby demonstrating the capability and potential of local products to compete at the international level.
BICTA is an annual ICT competition organised by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in collaboration with the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB). The competition is aimed to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT among the individuals, students and local enterprises. BICTA is also supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Brunei Economic Development Board (BEBD).
