The First ASEAN Digital Senior Officials' Meeting and ASEAN Telecommunications Regulators' Council (ADGSOM – ATRC) Leaders' Retreat of 2024

1.     The 1st ASEAN Digital Senior Officials' Meeting and ASEAN Telecommunications Regulators' Council (ADGSOM – ATRC) Leaders' Retreat of 2024 was held on 19th – 21st Mac 2024, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  Brunei Darussalam was led by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) in his capacity as ADGSOM leader of Brunei Darussalam.

2.     The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ang Wee Keong, Assistant Chief Executive, Infocomm Media Development Authority, Republic of Singapore. The meeting among others discussed the decisions and way forward from the 4th ADGSOM and 4th ADGMIN 2024 which was held in February 2024 as well as updates on the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025, ASEAN Working Group on AI Governance, ASEAN Working Group on Submarine Cables and existing projects under the 2024 ADGSOM-ATRC Work Cycle.



3.     The meeting also discussed new project concept note proposals from ASEAN Member States for the 2025 Work Cycle whereby Brunei Darussalam submitted three (03) projects namely 'ASEAN Digital Innovation Hubs', 'ASEAN Digital Trade Infrastructure (Phase 1 – Framework Recommendation)' and 'ASEAN Guidelines on Cloud Adoption for Public Sector' for consideration.

4.     Prior to the meeting, ASEAN Member States attended the Inaugural 1st ASEAN Working Group on Anti-Online Scam Meeting whereby members shared updated information, experiences, impacts, challenges, case studies related policies and regulations as well as strategies and practices from ASEAN Member States.

5.     Also, in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, Chief Executive, Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), along with senior officers from MTIC and AITI.
