Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Good Morning and Selamat Pagi.
1. A very warm welcome to you all, and thank you for joining us here in beautiful Brunei Darussalam to this morning’s Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2024 Reception. I hope you have had a chance to enjoy some sights and sounds of our abode of peace, a kingdom of unexpected treasures.
2. Alhamdulillah, Brunei Darussalam has been given the privilege of hosting the APICTA Awards 2024, twelve (12) years since the last we hosted in 2012. It is an honour to host this prestigious event in Brunei Darussalam, as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA). Brunei Darussalam has always been a strong advocate for technological advancement, and today, we come together to celebrate the exceptional innovations and achievements in the world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across the Asia-Pacific region and stand proud as a platform for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of cutting-edge ideas.
3. The APICTA Awards have become a symbol of excellence, recognizing the creativity, passion, and hard work of ICT professionals, entrepreneurs, and organizations across the region. It is a testament to the incredible strides being made in ICT, from innovative startups to established enterprises, and from visionary developers to forward-thinking policy makers.
4. By driving innovation and empowering the future, APICTA’s vision and mission aligns perfectly with Brunei Darussalam’s own vision of fostering a knowledge-based economy. As we navigate through an era of rapid technological transformation, it is crucial that we continue to inspire and support the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators who will shape the future of ICT not just in our region, but across the globe. Together through APICTA, we can create an environment that nurtures collaboration and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve for the benefit of our societies.

5. We are excited to witness the brilliance of the talented participants and to celebrate their contributions to the ever-evolving ICT landscape. I am humbled to announce that we have received the highest number of entries in APICTA’s history with 279 entries from 15 of APICTA’s member economies.
6. As we embark on this journey over the next few days, I encourage each one of you to take full advantage of the networking opportunities and the shared experiences. May we all leave here not only with awards but with new friendships, new partnerships, and new ideas that will help propel the digital future forward.
